Working principle

Preprocessing and interception

The outer layer of the Coalescer Cartridge is designed with a precision pre-filtration layer, made of gradient porous materials such as glass fiber and polypropylene melt-blown fiber. It can efficiently intercept solid impurities, suspended solids and fiber debris in the fluid according to the filtration precision requirement. This step avoids impurities covering the inner coalescence layer, prevents interference with the coalescence effect, and reduces the formation of stable emulsion by impurities, laying a foundation for subsequent micro-droplet demulsification and coalescence.

Coalescence process

After impurity removal, the fluid flows through the inner coalescence layer of the cartridge. Driven by fluid flow, tiny dispersed liquid droplets in the medium are adsorbed on the surface of the coalescence fiber by surface tension. Relying on the hydrophobic/oleophilic or oleophobic/hydrophilic selective wettability of the special coalescence material, the adsorbed micro-droplets stay on the fiber surface and continuously collide and merge with other droplets during the flow. The multi-layer gradient structure of the coalescence layer makes the droplets undergo repeated collision and coalescence in the layer-by-layer flow, with the particle size increasing step by step until forming large droplets that can be separated by gravity.

Separation and sedimentation

The large droplets formed by coalescence pass through the separation layer of the cartridge, which has opposite wettability to the coalescence layer. Through the difference of material surface properties, the large droplets are blocked and separated from the base medium, and then break away from the fluid flow under the action of gravity and density difference, settling to the liquid collection chamber of the matching coalescer equipment. The separated clean medium passes through the cartridge and flows out, completing the purification and separation process.
