The complete water filter system for the oil and gas industry is classified according to the process stage: 

The oil and gas scenario includes "produced water reinjection, seawater pretreatment, fracturing flowback fluid, circulating cooling water, boiler feedwater, and membrane system security filtration", which are divided into five categories: "deep media filters, self-cleaning filters, bag/cartridge precision filters, membrane filters, and special oil removal filters".

I. Deep Media Pressure Filters (High-Flow Pretreatment, Mainstay Equipment in Oilfields):

1. Walnut Shell Filter: 

Modified walnut shell filter media, specifically designed to adsorb emulsified oil; used for oil removal from produced water, achieving an oil content 

of ≤5~10mg/L; gas-water backwashing regeneration; standard equipment in onshore oilfields and offshore platforms.

2. Multi-Media Filter / Dual-Media Filter (Anthracite + Quartz Sand / Garnet): 

Removes suspended solids, clay, and rust; pre-injection coarse filtration, reducing SS to 5mg/L; suitable for high-flow reinjection water treatment.

3. Fiber Ball Filter / Walnut Shell Filter: 

Compactible deep filtration, with superior precision compared to sand filtration; used for fine reinjection water, achieving an effluent SS of 

≤1~3mg/L; suitable for high-standard reinjection water quality in low-permeability reservoirs.

4. Shallow Sand Filter (High-Speed Sand Filter): 

Thin filter bed (300-500mm), fully automatic independent backwashing; commonly used in natural gas plants and refining/chemical circulating 

cooling water side-stream filtration, small footprint, and can operate without shutdown.

5. Continuous Sand Filter: 

Filtration and backwashing are performed simultaneously, without shutdown; specifically for high-load ternary fracturing produced water and shale 

gas produced water.

6. Activated Carbon Filter: 

Adsorbs residual organic matter and residual breaker; used for fracturing fluid reuse and membrane system pretreatment.


II. Fully Automatic Self-Cleaning Filters (Pipeline Coarse Protection, Pre-treatment):

1. Brush-type Self-Cleaning Filter / Scraper-type Self-Cleaning Filter / Multi-column Self-Cleaning Filter (Suction-type Self-Cleaning Filter): 

Stainless steel wedge-shaped filter screen, precision 50-500μm; used for wellhead water intake, seawater intake, and fracturing water supply, 

protecting downstream pumps and precision equipment, online automatic sludge discharge, no need to replace filter cartridges.

2. Hydrocyclone Sand Desander (Cyclone Filter): 

Centrifugal separation, removing large sand particles (≥40-100μm); used for sand removal from wellhead produced water and fracturing flowback 

fluid, belonging to pre-separation equipment.


III. Bag and Cartridge-Type Precision Security Filters (Post-Processing Fine Treatment, Membrane Protection):

1. Bag Filter: 

PP/PE filter bags, 1-100μm precision; fine filtration after walnut shell effluent, seawater pretreatment, and front-end protection for RO systems.

2. High-Flow/Pleated Cartridge Security Filter (40 inch/60 inch): 

PP, fiberglass, PTFE material, 1-5μm; final security filtration before ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis membranes to prevent membrane element 

scratches; essential for seawater desalination and high-requirement reinjection water.

3. Coalescing Separator Filter (Liquid-Liquid Coalescing Cartridge): 

Dedicated coalescing cartridges remove tiny emulsified oil droplets, achieving an oil content of <5ppm in the effluent; oil removal and polishing 

filtration for offshore platform produced water and condensate.


IV. High-end Fine Membrane Filters (Ultra-high Water Quality Reuse):

1. Microfiltration (MF) / Ultrafiltration (UF) (PVDF hollow fiber, tubular ultrafiltration):

Precision 0.01-0.1μm; for low-permeability oilfield water injection and fracturing flowback fluid reuse, removing colloids, bacteria, and fine 

suspended solids.

2. Ceramic Membrane Filters (Inorganic Ceramic Tubular Membranes):

High salt, high temperature, and strong chemical cleaning resistant; for shale gas fracturing flowback fluid and high-mineralization produced water, 

with long fouling resistance and lifespan.

3. Nanofiltration (NF) / Reverse Osmosis (RO) / DTRO Disc Tube Reverse Osmosis:

Desalination treatment; for seawater desalination platform water, deep reuse of produced water, and zero-discharge processes; requires multi-stage 

pretreatment + security filtration at the front end.


V. Typical Complete Process Flow Combination (Standard Oilfield Filtration Link):

1. Conventional Produced Water Reinjection Process:

Cyclone Sand Removal → Walnut Shell Oil Removal → Dual-Media Filter → Fiber Ball Fine Filter → Security Filter → Reinjection Well

2. Seawater Injection Process:

Self-Cleaning Water Intake Filter → Shallow Sand Filter → Ultrafiltration → RO Seawater Desalination → Water Injection

3. Fracturing Flowback Fluid Reuse Process:

Settling Tank → Scraper Self-Cleaning Sand Removal → Multi-Media Filtration → Ultrafiltration Ceramic Membrane → DTRO Desalination and Reuse
