Separator filter elements are the second stage of filter waterseparators (FWS) which are used in the fuel distribution supply network. The flow direction isfrom out to in whereby they act as an effective water barrier. The fuel moves through hydrophobicmaterial but the water collects on the surface untilthe droplets formed are large enough to fall to thesump of the FWS. The design of the coveringmaterial also stops the small water particles thatmay have not been collected at the coalescer stage.

Separator filter cartridges are constructed from an epoxy coatedsteel inner tube which is then covered with aseparator screen.This screen can be made fromeither a Teflon coated Stainless Steel mesh or asynthetic plastic mesh. The end caps are made fromglass fibre reinforced polyamide and are stampedaccording to the El standards with date of manufacture and ID number. NBR (Buna-N) endseals are fitted.
